A trailer!


So I said I was going to release a trailer and after the traction my gameplay preview got I did indeed just that!

I recorded some footage and cut together a small trailer with some royalty free music, it's not bad and it's online now.

Some things I've noticed from the short time it's been out:

  1. Watch time is not even half of the trailer. 
  2. It doesn't generate enough excitement by those who watch it to click through to my itch.io page
  3. The more I rewatch the more things I realize I could've done better

Learnings from this experience are many. Firstly the start of the trailer needs to be snappier and overall the trailer needs to be more structured in terms of "story". Also the "dawdling time" in my gameplay is still too much, I need to cut down running and "dead air". Lastly I think I need more overlays in the video with some snappy phrases and selling points like "Over X levels", "Completely original pixel art designs" etc.

Well I'm ready for the next trailer and as I move towards that I will write more blogs and work more on my game.
